 Breakthrough GreenLight Laser PVP Procedure
Relieves California Man's Prostate Problems

MARKET WIRE -- March 30, 2007

NEWARK, DE  - In January 2007, a California man suffering the symptoms of an enlarged prostate made a cross-country trip to Newark, Delaware to undergo treatment. Why the long journey?

The patient, Elmer Sanborn, w anted to take advantage of the breakthrough laser procedure - GreenLight Laser photoselective vaporization of the prostate (PVP). But technology is only half the battle. It takes a specialist like Dr Peter J. Muench to get the most out of what the GreenLight system has to offer. Sanborn, who was successfully treated on January 19, 2007, tells his story.

The GreenLight Laser Alternative

In 2002, Sanborn, an otherwise healthy, 69-year-old California resident, began experiencing urination problems. An ultrasound examination revealed benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). To treat the non-cancerous enlargement, he started taking medications. However, his symptoms only worsened. "Essentially, my medications could not keep up with the on-going enlargement. I was  getting up several times a night to pee, and not ever getting a good night's sleep. I am an active bike rider. It got to the point where I could no longer take the long leisurely rides like I used to, because I couldn't go that long without having to go to the bathroom. I had to know where all the rest stops were before I started out on any trip. It was unbearable and my quality of life was greatly diminished," says Sanborn.

Last year, Sanborn underwent a cystoscopy at Stanford University Medical Center, which indicated further significant enlargement. Because of his worsening condition, Sanborn realized he needed surgical intervention. Stanford urologists recommended conventional treatment: transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), a procedure that utilizes electricity to resect the prostate. However, while conducting Internet research, Sanborn learned about the work that Dr. Muench was doing with the GreenLight Laser PVP. He became intrigued, and for good reason. "PVP is much better suited to treating enlarged prostates than conventional TURP. I was impressed by the fact that Dr. Muench pioneered the Greenlight treatment in Delaware and  has performed over 300 PVP procedures since the technology was introduced. After lots of discussion and on-line research, I was sure I didn't want the TURP offered by Stanford University Medical Center and concluded that the GreenLight Laser by the Doctor in Delaware was my first choice," says a thankful Sanborn.

Remarkable Improvement

By the time Sanborn came to Dr. Muench for his procedure, his prostate size had increased to 80 grams (30 grams is considered normal). His procedure went smoothly. Practically all PVP's are done as outpatient procedures. Sanborn was discharged after a 23-hour post-operative stay - simply because of the distance he'd traveled.  His subsequent recovery was remarkable. "The procedure dramatically corrected his voiding symptoms and allowed him to stop all of his prostate medications. Improvements from the GreenLight Laser procedure are durable and permanent based on my clinical data," reports Dr. Muench.

Afterward, Sanborn was not only ecstatic about the procedure and his well-being; he was highly complimentary of the care he received. "It was just a wonderful experience," he told Dr. Muench. "It was the best decision I ever made. I've been to many excellent doctors in my life, but I think you are the finest. The care I received was professional, effective, and personable, I couldn't ask for more," says Sanborn.
